  • Welding Technology

    Overview


    The Welding Technology Program (1050) prepares students for entry into the welding industry.  Students explore career opportunities and requirements of a professional welder.  Content emphasizes beginning skills key to the success of working in the welding industry.  Students study workplace safety and organization, basic manufacturing processes, metals identification, basic interpretation of welding symbols, and oxyfuel gas cutting practices. Refer to grade level requirements section on page 10 of the course catalog.

     

    Admission Requirements

    Minimum age of 16

    Complete the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE). In order to receive a Certificate of Completion, a minimum score of 9.0 must be obtained in Reading, Total Math, and Language

    Classroom Hours

    Monday through Friday, 9:00AM to 1:00PM and 1:30PM to 3:30PM

    Industry Certifications

    Welder Assistant 1 and 2 - 300 Hours
    Welder, Shielded Metal Arc Welder 1 and 2 - 300 Hours
    Welder - 450 Hours

  • Welding Technology - Advanced

    Overview

    The Welding Technology Advanced Program (750 Hours) prepares students for entry into the welding industry.  Students explore the career opportunities and requirements of a professional welder. Content emphasizes advanced skills key to the success of working in the welding industry. Students study intermediate and advanced Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) B – Class Welder, pipe fitting fabrication techniques, and advanced Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) skills. Refer to grade-level requirements section on page 10 of the course catalog.
